Logo Usage Guidelines

The Office of Development and Alumni Relations adheres to a paired down set of University monograms, emblems and wordmarks that can be found and downloaded below. The University of Texas at Dallas wordmark or emblem should be used as the primary identifier of the University. The emblem is an excellent substitute for the University seal, which is restricted to official University documents, presidential communications, diplomas and other official collateral. Anywhere that features one of the UTD monograms must also include the University name written in full.

Logo Placement Guidelines

If possible, the monogram, emblem and wordmark should appear in UT Dallas orange. If UT Dallas orange cannot be used, black or white may be used. The two-color versions may only be used on a white background.

The monograms may be used on select colored backgrounds as illustrated below and on photography that provides adequate contrast to the logo. Exceptions for the use of orange on black will be considered on promotional items when product color is limited and on a case-by-case basis.

Editorial Guidelines

General Editorial Guidelines

All communications sent from the Office of Development and Alumni Relations must adhere to The University of Texas at Dallas editorial guidelines.

For topics not covered in the University’s manual, the Associated Press Stylebook serves as our office’s primary style guide.

University Name Usage

Use “The University of Texas at Dallas” in first reference. “UT Dallas” or “University” are preferred for subsequent references. Use “UTD” if necessary — to avoid repetition or to save space — but use it sparingly. Do not use periods after any of the capitalized letters in either case. “The” is always present and capitalized in the full name of the University.

Campaign Name Usage

Always italicize the New Dimensions campaign name.

Use the full campaign name in your document’s first reference:
New Dimensions: The Campaign for UT Dallas

Subsequent references may use the shortened name:
New Dimensions campaign*

* Note that “campaign” is neither capitalized nor italicized when used in this way.
