The 33 bur oak trees lining the new traffic circle are a welcoming sight for everyone entering campus from the main Campbell Road entrance. When the trees are fully grown, they will be a magnificent backdrop for the reflecting pools and stone planters just a few steps away. Construction began in 2011 on the circle for the new University Visitors Center and Bookstore.

The reflecting pools form the central core of the enhancement project, stretching from the School of Management, past the Student Union, ending at the Eugene McDermott Library. The total length of the pools exceeds 600 feet. In times of drought, the pools can be drained to reveal a surface that resembles a dry Texas creek bed.
