JoHanna Martinez BA’15

A UT Dallas alumna and veteran working to usher more veterans into the workforce at AT&T.

Before her role as a talent attraction manager at AT&T, JoHanna Martinez BA’15 was a U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) veteran who was faced with the challenge of transitioning to civilian life after four years in the USMC.

After returning home to San Antonio, Martinez spent her free time applying to jobs before eventually landing a position at AT&T’s headquarters in Dallas. Her efforts to help support veterans and military spouses contributed to AT&T’s goal in hiring 20,000 veterans by 2020, which the company reached ahead of schedule this month.

Martinez received her bachelor’s degree from the School of Interdisciplinary Studies in 2015 and has continued to stay involved with the University. She currently serves on the University’s Military and Veteran Center’s Community Advisory Council, which supports UT Dallas’ outreach to student veterans.

As a student, the UTD Military and Veteran Center provided me a centralized area to connect with other student veterans, learn about events and connect with employers looking to hire veterans post-graduation. I’ve continued to connect with other student veterans and offer mentorship while learning about veteran/military events on campus.
