Naveen Jindal MBA’92

The namesake of UT Dallas’ largest school, an industrialist, statesman and global force for higher education.

After graduating with an MBA from UT Dallas in 1992, Naveen Jindal MBA’92 became one of the University’s premier benefactors. In 2011, he made a $15 million pledge to UT Dallas’ business school, creating endowed faculty positions, scholarships, fellowships and the Naveen Jindal Institute for Indo-American Business Studies.

At the time, Jindal’s gift was the largest ever made by a UT Dallas alumnus. The Naveen Jindal School of Management now bears his name in recognition of his impact.

Jindal began his career with the O.P. Jindal Group, a multibillion-dollar family conglomerate and now serves as chairman of Jindal Steel & Power. He is also the founder and chancellor of the O.P. Jindal Global University in Haryana, India.

While a student at UT Dallas, Jindal served first as Student Government vice president, then president, and earned the Student Leader of the Year Award.

His passion for politics continued after graduation during a parliamentary career in India, where he served in the Lok Sabha representing his home district of Kurukshetra. Jindal is a determined advocate in the fight against hunger, corruption, population instability and gender bias, and a champion for women’s empowerment and the promotion of sport at all levels.

Jindal was recognized with the University’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2010.
